Raw Read/Write Utilities
Purpose
RawRead creates a disk image file from a source diskette in the original track and sector format. The resulting disk image file can then be sent via ftp or email without corruption. Rawrite reads the disk image file and recreates the source diskette in its original format and integrity.
Installation
- Click on ftp://ftp.pamarsystems.com/raw/rawread.exe
Choose "Save File" when prompted to Open or Save File.
(Windows 2000/XP) Save file to "C:\WINNT\system32\rawread.exe"
(Windows Vista/7) Save file to "C:\Windows\System32\rawread.exe - Click on ftp://ftp.pamarsystems.com/raw/rawrite.exe
Choose "Save File" when prompted to Open or Save File.
(Windows 2000/XP) Save file to "C:\WINNT\system32\rawread.exe"
(Windows Vista/7) Save file to "C:\Windows\System32\rawread.exe - Click on ftp://ftp.pamarsystems.com/raw/rawrite.reg
Choose "Open" when prompted to Open or Save File.
(Note: Both programs are 32-bit binaries. For 64-bit Windows install in C:\Program Files (x86)\IMGfile\)
Creating a disk image file from a diskette
- Insert the floppy disk that you wish to make an Image of into your floppy drive.
- Click the Start button
- Click the Run button
- At the Run prompt type: rawread c:\windows\temp\{filename} A:
Disk image file is located in the c:\windows\temp directory. Copy, ftp or email this file.
Creating a diskette from a disk image file
- Insert a blank floppy disk
- Locate the image file
- Double click the image file and press enter when prompted.
Wait until you see the done message then close the window.
